New Swimmer Requirements
At tryouts, new swimmers must demonstrate to the coach the ability to swim one 25 meter length of the pool using the freestyle stroke with the following components:
- swim horizontally face down in the water,
- arms coming out of the water (no doggie paddle),
- no touching the bottom of the pool or pulling along on the lane lines,
- head turning to the side to breathe, and
- swimmer needs no coaxing into or through the water once it's their turn to swim.
There will be no timing of swimmers at tryouts. The purpose of tryouts isn’t to get the fastest swimmers; it is to ensure that your child will be safe in the pool.
For the safety of all swimmers, we ask parents not to speak with coaches while kids are in the water trying out.
