Swimmer and Family Expecations

1. Parents/guardians are responsible for your child(ren) before and after practice.

2. Pool guidelines – Remember that the pools we use are club pools for members. Non-members should not be in the pool except for Gators swimmers during their designated practice.

3. Practice guidelines – Only swimmers and coaches are allowed inside the fenced pool area/pool deck. If you have questions for any coach, please email Coach Hailey before/after practice times as all coaches will be focused on coaching during the sessions.

4. Expectations for swimmers

  • arrive on time
  • do not run on the deck
  • try your best
  • respect for coaches and teammates
  • respect the pool and property you are swimming at
  • have fun!
  • attend a minimum of 2 practices prior to the weeks meet.

5. Volunteering Guidelines

The Gators Swim Team is a volunteer run organization. To provide quality and efficiently run meets, ALL Gator parents must volunteer. The success of the team is due in large part to the participation and support of our parents.

Outside of the required meet duties, there may be additional volunteer opportunities with gear distribution, etc.

If you are interested and able to take on a Lead Volunteer role, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Christine Highland. As a lead you will be responsible for ensuring the success of your volunteers during the meet. We need ALL families to step up and help!

If you are scheduled to work a job at a meet and are unable to attend, you must arrange for a substitute (must be at least 18) and notify the Volunteer Coordinator.

Gators Relay Policy

Relay events are a fun and exciting part of summer swim, and we strive to balance competition, development, and overall team experience when creating relay lineups.

For swimmers age 7-18, relays are generally formed basted on fastest times, as this helps the team compete effectively. At the same time, when times are close, our coaches may rotate swimmers at their discretion to provide additional opportunities and experience.

For our 6&U swimmers, relay assignments are more flexible. Coaches will work to rotate swimmers whenever possible, helping build confidence, create a positive experience, and introduce younger swimmers to relays in a supportive way.
